Message from Tournament Chair
Hello Ladies!
Congratulations to Tina Paptolis for her victory in this years’ City Championship. Tina shot a 73 on Day 1 and a 76 on Day 2 for a two-day Gross total of 149! Wow! Incredible golf Tina!
In addition to our City Champion, we have our Runner up – Cathy Kay! Cathy shot an 83 on Day 1 and followed it up with a 75 on Day 2 for a two-day Gross total of 158. Another incredible two-day score! Congratulations Cathy!
Wait, that’s not all….
Judy Ellis shot a Net 67 on day 1 and a Net 72 on day 2 for a two-day total Net of 139, giving her the title of Low Net of the field for our tournament. Congratulations Judy!
Additionally, this tournament pays out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places – Gross and Net on each day, so there are many more winners to congratulate! Please see the results below.
I’d like to send a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped with scoring, whether it was verifying score cards, inputting score cards or writing scores on the Leaderboard sheets. Thank you for you help, I truly appreciate you – I couldn’t have done this without you!
And last but not least, I’d like to send another HUG thank you to the Bellevue Ladies Golf Club and Bellevue Golf Course for putting on such a fabulous Championship. The course was in great shape and the weather was perfect for golfing. The Tee prize bags and goodies were awesome, the water provided was a welcome relief and the posters at each tee box were memorable. And… we can’t forget about lunch! A huge thank you goes out to the restaurant and the Bellevue Ladies Club for providing our lunch on the second day.

PRESIDENT’S CUP: Carmen Johnson (Low Gross)
This is a “gross score” trophy. In 1974 Carmen Johnson, GSWPGA President at the time, died of cancer while in office. Laurine Law finished Carmen’s term as President and then went on to take the President’s position in 1975. Carmen was a very active in GSWPGA’s various committees and a great supporter of GSWPGA! Kathy McAfee, a GSWPGA active member, wanted to donate something in honor of Carmen and what she had done to promote our GSWPGA group. Kathy thought it would be nice to show the club’s support in a trophy during the President’s Cup Tournament. Since most all golf awards are given to the “Net” winners, Kathy wanted to donate a trophy for the “low gross” winner during the “President’s Cup” Tournament. The “Carmen Johnson Trophy” was approved by the GSWPGA Board in 1974 and Kathy donated it to our group that year. This is a “perpetual trophy” in Carmen’s honor.
